ETFs reach new record highs

Assets invested in ETFs globally reached a new record of $19.25trn (£14.66trn) at the end of October, according to research and consultancy firm ETFG.

During October, ETFs globally gathered net inflows of $279bn, bringing year-to-date net inflows to a record $1.82trn, according to ETFGI’s October 2025 Global ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report.

Breaking these numbers down, Equity ETFs attracted $138.92bn, bringing year-to-date inflows to $816.30bn – slightly above the $806.44bn recorded by this point in 2024.

Fixed income ETFs saw $52bn in October inflows, pushing year-to-date totals to $366.29bn, compared to $283.55bn at the end of October 2024.

Commodity ETFs added US$9.61bn during the month, with year-to-date inflows reaching $82.75bn — significantly higher than the $7.89bn reported for the same period in 2024.

And active ETFs gathered $75.79bn in October, bringing year-to-date inflows to $523.51bn, up from $287bn at this point last year.

Substantial inflows can be attributed to the top 20 ETFs by net new assets, which collectively gathered $95.48bn during October. 

The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF gathered $17.74bn, the largest individual net inflow.
