The pensions pool recruits experienced investor who has Goldman Sachs, Hermes and Cambridge Associates on her CV.

London CIV, the investment pool for London’s local government pension schemes (LGPS), has appointed Aoifinn Devitt as its chief investment officer.

Devitt is not new to the LGPS having advised such pension schemes since 2006, consulting on asset allocation and responsible investing, as well as the pooling process. She will leave US-based wealth manager Moneta, where she is CIO, to take up the role.

Devitt has experience in senior investment roles including being head of investment for Ireland at Hermes Fund Managers, and CIO for the Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago.

She has also been an independent adviser to four local authority pension funds in the UK, as well as held other investment committee positions.

Originally from Ireland, Devitt spent her early career working in London as an investment banking associate at Goldman Sachs and a specialist consultant at Cambridge Associates. she also founded Clontarf Capital, a pan-alternatives research and consulting firm.

Devitt is a licensed attorney and has been a member of the New York Bar since 1996. She earned her law degrees from Trinity College Dublin and Oxford University.

She also earned an MBA from INSEAD in France and MSc in Applied Neuroscience from Kings College, London.

Commenting on the appointment, Dean Bowden, London CIV’s chief executive, said Devitt’s “extensive knowledge and experience including within the LGPS arena will add significant value to the investment proposition and business more broadly”.

Devitt added that she is thrilled to be joining the team at a time of evolution and growth for London CIV. “Having worked within the LGPS network for over 15 years, I am acutely aware of the importance of the role of London CIV in supporting our clients in the management of the LGPS.

“I am excited to build upon my work within the public sector to develop a suite of investment products that reflects the evolving imperatives around net-zero goals, cashflow generation and portfolio resilience, and above all to working with a diverse group of clients at such a momentous time in their trajectory.”

Devitt starts her role at London CIV next week, on January 15.
