There has never been a better time to highlight the importance of building a more sustainable and fairer world.

There has never been a better time to highlight the importance of building a more sustainable and fairer world.

Wars are raging in Ukraine and the Middle East, which have made energy and food unaffordable for many and comes on the back of a pandemic that swept the globe, while we also experienced the warmest January on record.

Such issues show the benefits of breaking our reliance on extractive forms of energy through developing more reliable sources of regenerative power. Producing more sustainable calories, protecting our ecosystem and providing access to better healthcare are other lessons that recent history has taught us.

These issues are even more important given world events and with the citizens of more than 50 countries voting in national elections this year, we appear to be heading into a new era.

So how are institutional investors factoring such issues into their investment decisions?

In July, portfolio institutional will once again bring pension schemes and insurers together with asset managers, consultants and campaigners to discuss the big environmental, social and governance investment themes.

Reserve your seat to hear how institutional investors are preparing their portfolios for a new era.

We cannot have a vibrant ecosystem without a stable climate and we cannot have a stable climate without a vibrant ecosystem. How are ESG-led investors factoring this issue into their portfolios?

Innovation is as much a part of the debt markets as the yield curve. With $7.3trn (£5.8trn) needed each year until 2050 to deliver net zero, financial institutions need to find ways of expanding the $4.3trn sustainable debt market.

Could turning mortgages secured against energy-efficient buildings and loans used to buy electric cars into a larger pool of capital be the answer?

Avoiding climate-harming assets may not help to create a greener world. Using the influence investors hold to make such assets more sustainable and fairer to society could be the key. The question is, how are institutional investors engaging with their portfolio companies to drive change?

Covid highlighted that there will always be a need to access quality healthcare and for science to find breakthroughs that will give people a better quality of life. How are institutional investors helping achieve these goals?
