USSIM, the investment management subsidiary of the £36bn Universities Superannuation Scheme, has appointed Robin Filmer-Wilson to its private equity team.
Filmer-Wilson, who has more than 14 years of direct private equity and mezzanine investing experience, has joined as investment manager, private equity co-investments.
He joins USSIM from TCR Capital, a French mid-market private equity firm, where he worked on numerous LBO transactions as principal. Prior to that, he worked at Baring Private Equity in London and Paris and before then at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co in New York.
USSIM head of alternatives assets Mike Powell said: “This addition underscores the commitment to the co-investment strategy which enables us to scale exposure to specific transactions that best suit our investment objectives whilst reducing the overall cost of the private equity programme.”
In 2012, USSIM’s private equity co-investment team completed seven equity and mezzanine transactions worth £200m, increasing the total assets in the scheme’s co-investment portfolio to £500m.
