Dutch asset manager Robeco has appointed Peter Walsh as head of its UK office with a brief to expand the business.
Walsh takes responsibility for a business that had £5.4bn of assets under management for UK clients at the end of 2016.
Robeco chief executive Gilbert Van Hassel said UK expansion is an important part of the group’s growth strategy.
“Peter’s deep understanding of clients’ needs combined with his proven experience and skills will give Robeco an excellent opportunity to further grow in this market,” he added.
Walsh said he is looking forward to working with Robeco’s UK clients. “The UK market is sophisticated and this makes our capabilities in the areas of sustainability integration, credit and quantitative investing highly relevant,” he added.
The new UK boss replaces Mark Barry, but also retains his previous role as global head of consultant relations until a successor is found.
Walsh has almost a quarter of a century of asset management experience. His previous appointments include positions at Putnam Investments, Zurich Financial Services and Rothschild Asset Management.
