The Pensions Trust has named Mike Ramsey as its new chief executive.

Ramsey has been interim chief executive at the firm since April following the departure of Stephen Nichols, who stood down from the role in March after 12 years at the firm.

Prior to joining The Pensions Trust, Ramsey (pictured) was chief executive at Barbon Insurance Group and before that ran several businesses and divisions for companies including Axa, Aegon, Cigna and American Express.

At The Pensions Trust he will act as the main link between the trustee board and the trust’s senior management group and also ensure that the trust is managed in accordance with the Trust Deed and Rules as well as formulate the trust’s investment and business strategy.

The Pensions Trust trustee chairman Sarah Smart said: “We are delighted to welcome Mike Ramsey as chief executive of The Pensions Trust. Against some stiff competition, the board has agreed that Mike has the right blend of leadership skills, strategic visions and change management capability to lead the trust through the next stage of its development. Mike brings with him years of experience and will be an invaluable part of the Trust’s continuing commitment to provide the best possible pension solutions for participating employers and members.”
