Local Pensions Partnership (LPP) has welcomed Alan Schofield to its board as a non-executive director.

Schofield (pictured) will represent the shareholders of Lancashire County Council at the organisation. He becomes the second shareholder non-exec to take a seat, joining Dermot McMullan of the London Pension Fund Authority.

Schofield, who is also deputy chair of Lancashire County Council’s pension fund committee, takes a seat on LPP’s remuneration and nomination committee.

Prior to being elected to Lancashire County Council in 2013, Schofield held several senior financial management roles in the water industry. He then worked at various local authorities in the northwest of England until retiring six years ago.

Schofield joins the board of an organisation that he helped established in April last year when he worked on the LPP’s working party that saw the pooling of local government pension fund assets in Lancashire and London.

LPP chair Michael O’Higgins said Schofield brings a wealth of insight and experience to the board. “He played a significant role in ensuring the successful launch of LPP, and his experience in wider financial management, and in local authority finances in particular, will be a valuable asset to the LPP, its shareholders and investors,” he added.

Schofield said he is pleased to join the organisation at a time of transition and consolidation.
