Richard Harrington has been axed as pensions minister in Theresa May’s cabinet reshuffle, a spokesperson has told portfolio institutional.

The news comes days after the prime minister appointed David Gauke as work and pensions minister.

Harrington (pictured), who held the position for almost 12 months, has moved to the department of business, energy and industrial strategy.

The spokesperson could not say who will replace him.
