The West Midlands Pension Fund’s (WMPF) strategic director of pensions is to retire at the end of September.

Geik Drever (pictured) is to leave the fund after five years of service and will be replaced by director of pensions Rachel Brothwood.

The £14.7bn fund is also losing chief investment officer Jason Fletcher, who takes up the same role at the newly established pool LGPS Central.

Drever’s career has included being responsible for the Lothian Pension Fund and a stint as City of Edinburgh Council’s chief accountant.

Brothwood brings more than a decade of pensions experience to the role. Before joining WMPF in 2015, she advised trustees and sponsors on a range of strategic pension issues.

During her two years at the fund, Brothwood led a review of the scheme’s administration, funding and investment strategies. She has also developed its in-house systems and overseen asset allocation as well as focused on cost transparency issues.

Jason Fletcher, who helped established the pool, has a long track record in the industry having spent 20 years at the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).

Following these changes, WMPF is looking for new faces to join its senior management team.
