The Pension Protection Fund (PPF), the UK’s statutory lifeboat for DB pensions, has appointed Chris Cheetham and Emmy Labovitch to its board as non-executive directors.

PPF chairman, Arnold Wagner comments on the appointments: “I’m delighted that Chris and Emmy will be joining the PPF board. This is an important time for the PPF with Oliver Morley joining as our new CEO and recent major corporate insolvencies highlighting the value of the protection we provide to pension scheme members.”

Cheetham is currently global chief executive officer at HSBC Global Asset Management, where he spent the past 15 years as global chief investment officer.

In addition, he has also had a trustee appointment with the Mineworkers Pension Scheme, where he has been chairman since 2017. Prior to that, he worked among others at AXA Investment Management and Prudential.

Labdovitch (pictured) is set to join the PPF on 1 June, where she will replace Sharmila Nebhrajani, who is currently a member of the PFF as part of its risk and audit committee.

Labovitch has a background in investment management, capital markets and consulting. Since 2015 she has been a full time senior policy adviser at the OECD focusing on the pension fund sector and corporate governance.
