The National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) has appointed Jackie Wells as head of policy and research and Alison Binks as head of business development.

The two senior appointments come as part of a restructure at the industry body after former National Employment Savings Trust director of communications and engagement Graham Vidler joined the NAPF as head of external affairs in March.

Wells will be responsible for leading the NAPF’s policy and research activity. Prior to joining the NAPF she led a range of consultancy projects for the FSA/FCA, government departments and other not-for-profit organisations as well financial services firms.

She has also led consultancy teams working with the Department for Work and Pensions on the Pensions Commission reforms as well as with providers and schemes on the impact of auto-enrolment.

Commenting on Wells’ appointment, Vidler said: “Jackie’s knowledge and expertise will be an enormous asset to the NAPF and help ensure that our members’ views and the interests of scheme members are effectively represented. I’m delighted to welcome her to the team.”

Binks (pictured) will be responsible for establishing an internal business development team to help the NAPF grow its commercial activities.

She joins from the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) where she developed and led the business development team. Prior to that, she spent seven years in management consultancy with RSM Bentley Jennison.

Commercial services director Julian Mund said: “The introduction of a business development team will help us build even closer relationships with our members.  I am delighted that Alison has joined us and am looking forward to working closely with her to improve further our commercial services.”
