Jupiter Asset Management has named Jill Barber as its global head of institutional.

Franklin Templeton’s former head of UK institutional takes up her new role on 16 October where she will focus on increasing the firm’s presence in international markets and expanding its client list.

The 19-year asset management veteran joined Franklin Templeton from Hermes, where she was responsible for global consultant relations and UK business development.

Prior to that, the University of London graduate enjoyed roles at Fidelity International and Capital Group.

Jupiter’s global head of distribution, Nick Ring, said Barber will spearhead the global development of the international business.

“We believe our focus on unconstrained investing and alpha generation will be of increasing appeal to institutional clients, and Jill’s deep understanding of the market will be invaluable as we look to build on our strong brand and investment performance to increase our presence in this space.”

Barber (pictured) said she is looking forward to helping Jupiter to fulfil its ambitious growth plans.

“The institutional market is evolving, creating opportunities for a dynamic business with strong investment performance,” she added.

“Jupiter has an enviable reputation in the industry and I believe it has a lot to offer institutional clients across different geographies, as well as in the UK.”
