Consultancy giant Aon has strengthened its investment expertise by hiring Mike Smaje from Aberdeen Standard.

Consultancy giant Aon has strengthened its investment expertise by hiring Mike Smaje from Aberdeen Standard.

Smaje (pictured) joins as a partner in the global investment practice where he will work from the group’s offices in Leeds and Manchester.

He brings a more than 25 years’ of pensions, asset management and investment consultancy experience to the role.

At Aberdeen Standard he advised UK pension scheme trustees on liability driven investment and risk management strategies.

Smaje has also spent time as a director at First Actuarial, where he led the development of its investment consulting offering. He also served Willis Towers Watson for almost 20 years in investment and actuarial consultancy roles.

Aon investment partner and co-head of clients and client development Guy Willard said Smaje brings scheme actuary, asset liability modelling, risk analysis and manager selection experience to the group.

“Aon’s investment practice relies on a combination of talents and skills from around the financial industry, allowing us to have a broad view across the markets and the economic factors that drive them.

“We welcome Mike to the team and look forward to the value his expertise will bring to our clients,” he added.
